About the venue
Once home to diarist and botanist John Evelyn, Wotton House near Dorking has done things differently for 400 years. Marry in England's first Italian gardens or the pillared Old Library, with weddings for up to 200 and conferences for 250.
For 400 years, Wotton House has done things differently. Once home to John Evelyn, botanist, arboriculture expert and pioneering vegetarian, it still carries his family's history and a delightful sense of English eccentricity. Set in 13 acres of Surrey countryside near Dorking, it combines traditional style with modern needs.
Weddings unfold amid the magical Grade II listed 17th-century Italian Gardens, described as the first in England, and interiors full of 17th-century detailing with modern, luxurious touches. The Italian Gardens and the pillared Old Library are licensed for ceremonies of up to 140, with weddings for up to 180 day and 200 evening guests.
Celebrations can be held for 10 to 180, and meeting spaces range from board meetings for 10 to conferences for 250 delegates. The restaurant serves modern classics with a twist, and the bar pours sparkling English wines.
Individually designed rooms include garden-view, accessible and pet-friendly options, and guests can use the gym, indoor pool, steam room and tennis courts. Parking is extensive and free, with easy access from the M25, M3, A24 and A3.
