About the venue

Family-run vineyard and winery below the Pilgrims Way near Charing, Kent. Its tasting room and vineyard host day-delegate meetings, workshops, private tours and tastings for groups of up to 30, with seasonal lunches and wines made on site.

Westwell's winemaker Adrian Pike used to run a music company and founded the record label Moshi Moshi. He and his wife Galia took over this Kent vineyard in 2017, and her illustrations of vine wood under a microscope now cover the wine labels.

The estate lies just beneath the Pilgrims Way on the North Downs, on flint and sandy loam over chalk. Five grape varieties grow here, with Ortega as the signature grape.

The cellar door and tasting room open straight onto the working winery. Groups book them for meetings, workshops, client entertaining and long informal suppers, with indoor and outdoor space to choose from.

The day delegate package is £68 per person, plus a £150 flat fee for six hours of space hire, for at least 10 guests. It covers arrival tea and coffee, a vineyard tour with a guided tasting, a family-style seasonal lunch and exclusive use of the tasting room.

The tasting room alone costs £400 for a half day or £600 for a full day. Outdoor space by the shepherd's hut or out in the vines is £500 a day, with a staffed bar and a minimum drinks spend.

Private tours run for groups of 10 to 30 at £28 per head, with four wines from the current vintage. A Celebration Tour adds sparkling Pelegrim on arrival and a light lunch at £55. The Westwell Experience brings in Adrian to pour rare back vintages, at £90 a head.

Food comes from local producers such as Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Moons Green Charcuterie and Docker Bakery. Drinking water is drawn from the estate's own borehole.

The public calendar is busy too. Friday nights bring pizza or tacos from visiting food trucks, and there are supper clubs, craft workshops, cinema in the vines and even a dog show.

Charing station is a mile away, an hour from London St Pancras. Coaches up to 50ft can reach the estate, and there is plenty of parking.
