About the venue

A Grade II listed threshing barn from 1770 on a 22-acre eco farm near Benenden, on the Kent and Sussex border. The Maw family offer exclusive use for weddings of up to 135 seated and 200 in the evening, with six cottages sleeping 20 and no corkage.

Every event at Frame Farm ends with a tree planted on the land in its honour. The Maw family have added more than 500 since buying the farm in 2015.

The farm lies between Benenden and Iden Green in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the Kent and Sussex border. Deana and Tim Maw spent three and a half years restoring its redundant Grade II listed buildings. In 2021 the venue won the first Sustainability and Environmental Impact Award from the Rural Business Awards and Amazon.

The Oak Barn is the main space. Built in 1770 as a threshing barn, it is licensed for civil ceremonies and seats 135 for a ceremony or dinner, rising to 200 for an evening reception. It has a stage, a bar made from a felled oak on the estate, a wood burner, underfloor heating and air conditioning.

The Byre is the smaller room, a barn from 1880 that replaced an old animal shelter. It holds 100 for a ceremony, 60 for dinner and 100 for drinks, and glass doors open onto a terrace above the lily pond.

Across the yard, the open-fronted Pole Barn houses a 1956 Fordson Major tractor. It takes 135 for a relaxed ceremony or drinks and suits lawn games. Ceremonies can also be held on The Byre's terrace, and St George's Church is a short walk away.

Weaver's Cottages fill a weaving house dating from 1607, with oast kilns added around 1800. Four two-bedroom and two one-bedroom cottages sleep 20 guests, and one is wheelchair accessible.

A biomass boiler heats the barns, cottages and farmhouse, and 23kVA of solar panels supply daytime electricity. Food comes from the venue's approved local caterers, while couples may bring their own drinks with no corkage.

There are 52 all-weather parking spaces. Guests are warned that sat navs lead to the wrong farm, so the venue gives What3Words directions instead.
