The Montagu Arms is a country house hotel in the sleepy village of Beaulieu, on the south-eastern edge of the New Forest. It began life as a 16th-century coaching inn, first known as The Ship and later The George, and over more than 300 years has welcomed guests including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Henry Irving, Sir H. Rider Haggard and General Charles de Gaulle.

It is one of the most charming small wedding venues in the New Forest, with three unique spaces embraced on all sides by picturesque gardens, in a village of cottages straight off a postcard. Intimate ceremonies and gatherings can be held for up to 32 guests, or couples can take exclusive use of the hotel for celebrations of up to 150, with civil ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 100.

Dining is forest to fork, with ingredients caught, picked and plucked from the New Forest and the hotel's own gardens. The Terrace is an elegant wood-panelled dining room for afternoon tea and special dinners, Monty's Inn is a relaxed country pub welcoming families and pets, and lunch can be taken alfresco in the garden.

The 33 rooms and suites are dotted through the house and gardens, from bedrooms with four-poster beds, wood panelling and lead-lined windows to New Forest-inspired Courtyard Suites that open onto the gardens. There is a car park at the rear.
