About the venue

An exclusive-use barn venue near Bicester, run by the Wigmore family on a former sheep farm. Two linked barns seat 90 and 130, Ferne Wood is licensed for outdoor ceremonies of 130, and evenings take 175. 2027 venue hire runs from £3,800 to £7,500 including VAT.

Stratton Court Barn has its own helicopter landing pad, listed in the venue hire alongside the cake knife and highchairs. The barn itself was built in 1872 to house equipment and sheep at Pool Farm.

The Wigmore family turned the farm into an exclusive-use venue in 2014 and have added to it almost every year since. The Main Barn, The Byre, the bar and The Stables Lounge are all linked under one roof, and the barns have underfloor heating throughout.

The Main Barn seats 90, with high ceilings, original stonework, flagstone floors and an arch as its focal point. The Byre, a former cowshed, seats 130 beneath a reclaimed oak ceiling imported from Italy and three vintage French chandeliers. A fireplace anchors one end of the room.

The bar is the modern part, with a glittering granite counter, glass and chrome. This is where the dancing happens. Upstairs, the Hayloft is a getting-ready room with its own en suite, and The Stables Lounge opens onto a terrace with festoon lights.

The grounds cover around 65 acres. A formal rose garden greets guests from the car park. Beyond it are a Tuscan-style courtyard with an outdoor gin and cocktail bar, and a lake dug in 2020. Across the meadow, an oak hexagon gazebo stands in Ferne Wood.

Evening capacity is 175. Granary Cottage, a two-bedroom cottage beside the farmhouse, is kept for the couple on the wedding night, and a camping field can be booked for guests.

Catering comes from approved suppliers, whose starting prices sit between £48 and £81 a head. The bar is stocked and staffed by the venue. Outside weddings, the barns host corporate days, Christmas parties and private celebrations.
