Set against the rolling South Downs National Park, Pangdean Old Barn lies at the heart of a 1,000-acre working farm at Pyecombe, five miles north of Brighton and just off the A23, with direct trains to London from nearby Hassocks. Its magnificent oak-framed Sussex barn, built in 1720 and Grade II listed, has been lovingly restored alongside the original farmyard buildings and farmhouse garden to create an intimate, atmospheric venue that is exclusively yours for the day, as Pangdean only ever hosts one event per day, with no access for the general public.

The Old Barn, with its high oak-beamed roof filled with twinkling lights, seats up to 220 for a ceremony and 190 for a reception, and comes with an adjustable stage for bands and DJs. The adjoining Stable seats 70 for a smaller ceremony or reception, with a relaxed sofa scene, while Mulberry Lodge, an oak-shingled gazebo built in the orchard beside a 500-year-old mulberry tree, seats 200 plus for outdoor vows with views of the garden and the Downs. All three are licensed for weddings and civil partnerships, and the ceremony can even switch spaces on the morning to beat the weather. From April to the end of September, drinks and canapés can be served in the large flint walled farmhouse garden, with the covered courtyards and Stable ready in any weather, and all guest areas are fully heated for year-round celebrations.

Pangdean prides itself on outstanding food, warm, personalised service and attention to detail, with no set menus, no party plans and no packages. The in-house chef team creates bespoke menus from fine, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, from served plates and sharing platters to luxury buffets, street food, international flavours, plant-based feasts and barbecue, with generous canapés, and all dietary requirements catered for. Pricing is transparent: wedding breakfasts range from £82 plus VAT per head for 60 guests to £70 plus VAT for 120, evening supper starts from £9.50 plus VAT per head, and ceremonies cost £450 plus VAT for up to 70 guests or £600 plus VAT above that. A Simply Celebrate format offers a shorter, less formal, party-first wedding at significantly reduced venue hire and catering costs for weekday dates or bookings within five months.

Venue hire includes exclusive use of the barn, Stables, covered and outdoor courtyards, luxury cloakrooms, walled garden and Mulberry Lodge, an in-house events team who set everything up, a PA system with microphones, luxury garden furniture, parasols and a stretch tent for musicians, garden games from go-carts and croquet to giant Connect 4, lit chimineas, lanterns, candles, olive trees and a wealth of decor, plus ample free parking with cars left overnight and easy coach access. There is no corkage charge on full-day weddings, couples can supply their own drinks or book the well-stocked pay bar, and with no decibel limit the barn has hosted bands, barn dances, harpists and much more, with parties running until midnight.

Beyond weddings, Pangdean hosts company awards, business milestones, festive soirees, corporate lunches and off-site team days, alongside banquets, balls, anniversaries and milestone birthdays, while Taste of Pangdean restaurant evenings showcase the kitchen, and the team also offers calm, personalised celebrations of life.
