About the venue

Tudor Gothic mansion in Nonsuch Park, Cheam, rebuilt in 1802 to 1806 by Jeffry Wyatt (later Wyatville) as a 'modern echo' of Henry VIII's Nonsuch Palace. Exclusive hire between midday and midnight, civil ceremonies for 120, up to 120 seated or 200 standing, Bovingdons catering and bedrooms in a second-floor apartment.

Samuel Farmer asked the architect Jeffry Wyatt for a 'modern echo' of Henry VIII's lost Nonsuch Palace, which once stood nearby. Wyatt, later Sir Jeffry Wyatville, rebuilt the south front and staterooms between 1802 and 1806 in a Tudor Gothic style. The north front takes its cue from the old palace and carries a visible datestone. The Farmers kept the house until 1937, when it was sold to the local authorities that still manage Nonsuch Park.

The mansion stands in 300 acres of parkland and gardens in Cheam. It is hired for one event at a time, between midday and midnight, and a late licence can stretch the night further. It holds civil ceremonies and takes up to 120 seated or 200 standing.

The Orchid Room is the largest space, with arched bay windows, golden chandeliers, stained glass and a grand fireplace. It seats 120 for a ceremony, dinner or theatre-style talk, and white shutter doors divide it into rooms for 80 and 40. The Rose Room seats 80 under a ceiling of Tudor roses. Its fireplace carries the motto 'Hora E Sempre', now and forever. The Library has Fornasetti's Forbidden Fruit wallpaper and blacks out for screenings.

All food comes from Bovingdons, whose Michelin-trained chefs have catered events for over 30 years. Packages include the tables and chairs, along with linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware. A dedicated wedding planner helps couples with the arrangements, and a first-floor Dressing Room gives the bridal party a private place to get ready. Guests can stay over in a second-floor apartment with its own lounge and kitchen, and wake to a continental breakfast.
