About the venue

New Forest hotel near Lyndhurst with 33 bedrooms, Herb House Spa and Hartnett Holder & Co. Exclusive-use weddings run Monday to Thursday with ceremonies for 110, and the five-bedroom Forest House sleeps ten for private celebrations and retreats.

The Lake Cabin at Lime Wood is cantilevered out over the water, with a sedum roof and a bath on its balcony. It is one of several places to stay around the 33-bedroom main house, which sits in 19 acres of landscaped grounds near Lyndhurst in the New Forest National Park. The house took five years to create, with architecture by Charles Morris and Ben Pentreath. David Collins designed the interiors, and Martin Brudnizki, Rob Angell and Susie Atkinson have added to them since.

Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder run Hartnett Holder & Co, an Italian restaurant built on local and seasonal produce, with a vaulted wine cellar. Herb House Spa has a 16-metre lap pool, an outdoor hot pool and a forest-view sauna. Its rooftop gym opens onto a herb garden. A resident forager, Sammie Longhorn, leads walks through the grounds on selected dates.

Weddings are exclusive use, Monday to Thursday, with all 33 bedrooms included. The hotel is licensed for ceremonies of 110 and seats 80 for the wedding breakfast, or 110 with a marquee extension. Smaller events use the Cedar Room, the Study, the Drawing Room and HH&Co Backstage, which seats 14.

Forest House stands in the grounds with five en-suite bedrooms and a kitchen for groups of up to ten. Its 10-metre outdoor pool opens between April and September. Up to two dogs can stay there.
