About the venue

Grade I listed woodland garden near Horsham, with seven lakes, free-roaming wallabies and a Michelin-starred restaurant in Leonardslee House. Weddings use the Gardens, the Courtyard or the Wine Estate, and private events seat 100 in the Courtyard.

Sir Edmund Loder brought wallabies to Leonardslee in 1889, and a colony still roams the gardens near Horsham. Loder also commissioned the Victorian rock garden, built in 1890 by James Pulham & Sons for the ferns and alpine plants he collected. The 240 acres of Grade I listed gardens, woodland and seven lakes have been called the finest woodland gardens in England.

The gardens were closed for nine years before reopening in 2019, after what the estate calls the largest garden restoration in England, and possibly Europe. The Streeter family bought Leonardslee in 2016. There is now a sculpture park and a deer park with more than 100 Sika and Fallow deer. Beyond the Dolls' House is a 1:12 model of an Edwardian estate, made by Helen Holland in 1998.

Leonardslee House has ten en-suite bedrooms and holds a Michelin Key. Restaurant Interlude, led by Executive Chef Jean Delport, has a Michelin star and serves a multi-course tasting menu that draws on the garden and woodland.

Weddings use three settings: the Gardens, the Courtyard and the Wine Estate, where Leonardslee Family Vineyards makes English sparkling wine. For private events, the Courtyard seats 100. The Engine House terrace beside the lakes takes 25 seated.
