About the venue

Five-star country house hotel and spa in 130 acres on the edge of the New Forest, a short walk from the sea. Six ceremony spaces hold between 10 and 140 guests, The Lake Suite seats 150 for meetings, and there are 72 rooms including 14 Treehouses.

Captain Frederick Marryat, who wrote The Children of the New Forest, is believed to have stayed at Chewton Glen while visiting his brother. Rooms are still named after his novels and characters, and the largest suite in the house carries his name.

The house dates from the early 18th century and first became a hotel after 1947. Martin and Brigitte Skan bought it in 1966, and it is now part of Iconic Hotels & Resorts. It holds two MICHELIN Keys and was named Best UK Wedding Venue at the 2025 Weddings & Honeymoons Awards.

The estate covers 130 acres of woodland, gardens and parkland on the fringe of the New Forest, a short walk from the sea. There are 72 rooms and suites. Fourteen of them are Treehouses up in the canopy, with private decks and hot tubs.

There are six places to marry, and they vary in size. Indoors there are The Lake Suite, the Marryat Suite, the Summer Room and the Morning Room. Outside is the Walled Garden, and up in the trees is a Treehouse called The Hideaway. The Hideaway takes 10 guests, while The Lake Suite and the Walled Garden take 140 each.

The Lake Suite doubles as the main conference room, with its own entrance and terrace and 150 seats theatre-style. Smaller meetings use The Wardroom, The Library or The Club Room.

Exclusive hire covers the house, the estate, the nine-hole golf course and the helipad. The Kitchen cookery school, beside The Kitchen by James Martin, runs private classes for parties and teams.
