Beaulieu

About the venue

A New Forest estate with the 13th-century Domus of Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and the National Motor Museum. Up to 1,000 guests can dine among the museum's cars, and private lawns host summer events for as many as 5,000.

When Henry VIII destroyed Beaulieu Abbey, only two of its buildings survived. One was the monks' refectory, now the village parish church. The other was the lay brothers' dormitory, known as the Domus, which is now Beaulieu's main events space.

The abbey was founded about 800 years ago by Cistercian monks from France. Palace House, the ancestral home of Lord Montagu, stands on the same estate.

The Domus keeps its wooden beams and a working fireplace, with the cloisters outside for drinks and photographs. It seats up to 150. The National Motor Museum is on the same site, and its collection takes in the earliest motor cars as well as Formula One racers. Up to 1,000 guests can eat or have drinks among the vehicles.

The Brabazon takes parties of up to 500. For meetings, the Lord Montagu building has refurbished rooms for two to 30, and the site has a lecture theatre for up to 220.

Guests at events can ride the monorail, take a trip on the veteran bus or walk the gardens. The estate is 20 to 25 minutes' drive from Southampton. The nearest mainline station is Brockenhurst, with trains to London Waterloo.
