England play Australia in Brighton on 6 September, and New Zealand meet Ireland the next day. Three Brighton venues for the weekend.
The Women's Rugby World Cup kicked off in Sunderland on Friday night, with England playing the USA. In under two weeks it comes south. On Saturday 6 September the Red Roses play Australia at the Brighton & Hove Albion Stadium, kick-off 5pm, in their last Pool A game.
The next afternoon the same ground hosts New Zealand, the holders, against Ireland at 2.45pm. Two matches on consecutive days makes a whole weekend of it, and that means somewhere to sleep and somewhere to eat.
Here are three Brighton venues on Venunique worth a look for that weekend.
The Grand Brighton, King's Road
The obvious choice if you want the seafront. The Grand sits on King's Road and has sea-facing bedrooms, some with balconies. Food is at Cyan, the restaurant, and there's the Victoria Bar for a drink after the match. Afternoon tea is served on the Victoria Terrace. There's a spa too, if Sunday morning needs one.
Hotel du Vin Brighton, Ship Street
Smaller, and in the Lanes rather than on the front. The building is 19th century, the restaurant is Bistro du Vin, and the cooking is French-inspired. The bar has a long wine list. It also has meeting and event rooms, so a group booking a private dinner the night before could do worse.
Brighton Racecourse
Not a hotel, but a good one for a bigger crowd. The racecourse is high on the South Downs with views back over the city, and its spaces are available for corporate and private hire. Think club trip or works outing, with a pre-match lunch or a party afterwards.
Before you book
A home World Cup weekend is not the time to leave rooms to the last minute. Full details and contact links for each venue are on its Venunique page.
